Rachel Latta is running for the Oakland School Board to bring the voice of Oakland parents and caregivers to the board.
As a parent of three children, two attending Oakland Unified School District (“OUSD”) schools and a third still in daycare, bringing out the best in Oakland public schools is a personal passion for Rachel.
For years, she has worked as a parent organizer and champion of Oakland’s public schools to make the district more equitable and sustainable, while celebrating successes small and big along the way. Her experience as a parent and organizer in diverse school communities as well as working in coalition and partnership with school communities, advocacy organizations and OUSD leadership make Rachel the perfect choice for the District 1 School Board Director in 2024!
OUSD has some big challenges and incredible opportunities ahead, and Rachel’s experience as a caregiver, public school advocate and solutions-oriented parent organizer is exactly what we need to create a stronger, more functional school district while centering families, students, and the educators and staff that educate our kids every single day.
